Doc Savage stories were also known for their amazing gadgets and
inventions, while some of them remain the stuff of Science Fiction and a vivid
imagination, many of them have come true showing just how prophetic Lester Dent
really was.
When looking at this list keep in mind the timeframe. The early 1930's was a time when:
World War 1 had ended less than 20 years before
Model-T's were still in abundance and there was no such thing as an automatic transmission..
Airplanes had just barely come up with the radical concept of retractable landing gear
Music was recorded on wax cylinders, vinyl records were still years away.
FM radio (without static) was still a long ways off and giant console radios were required to listen to AM
Elevators used human operators to pull the lever making the car go up and down.
The concept of blood transfusions and matching blood types had just been invented
Plastic was still a long ways off
Copy machines had yet to be invented, secretaries wrote everything longhand
Nobody believed a plane could go faster than 300 mph
Frozen food had just been invented
